Each year, Student  leaders and Volunteers registered with SVL will be recognized with volunteer awards and celebrated for their time, talent and knowledge to better the community.

Student Volunteer LINK Awards

 

  • OUTSTANDING STUDENT ORGANIZATION AWARDS

(one award per organization)

Awarded to a student nominated by his/her organization for outstanding service to the group.

  • OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER (one award)

Awarded to the person who does not hold a leadership position, but has consistently donated his/her time and effort to SVL and to student volunteers.  The recipient demonstrates enthusiasm for SVL and faithfully contributes time and talents for the betterment of the organization and the community.  Award consideration is for accomplishments from Fall 2006 semester to the present time.

  • OUTSTANDING STUDENT LEADER (one award)

Awarded to the person who holds a leadership position and has demonstrated exemplary leadership skills.  The recipient exhibits the ability to successfully work with the organization, leads the organization with innovative ideas, delegates responsibilities, provides direction to members and officers.  Award consideration is for accomplishments from Fall 2006 semester to the present time.

  • EXCELLENCE IN LEADERSHIP (numerous awards may be given)

Awarded to individual students who have best demonstrated involvement in serving their community.  The recipient will demonstrate extensive involvement in school and community activities; personal integrity and exemplary character; a commitment to helping other students by encouraging, supporting and nurturing their involvement; and academic achievement.   Nominees must also include a letter of reference with their application.     

 

  • OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT (one award)

Awarded to a student/organization for sponsoring a community service project that benefited someone in need and/or a service organization that supported and encouraged student commitment to volunteering and has a long-lasting value and impact.  The event should have occurred between August 1, 2006 and July 1 , 2007.  

 

 

Criteria and Selection Process

 

Annually LINK Volunteers are honored for their dedicated commitment to the goals of volunteerism and philanthropy. The criteria and process below explains how these exemplary volunteers are selected.

Total of volunteers awards: 5

 

Criteria

 

  • models/exemplars for other volunteers
  • student in good academic standing
  • involved in either one or more LINK projects or
  • initiated a new program
  • enthusiastic in their support of the LINK projects
  • provided leadership in the LINK projects
  • encouraged and promoted LINK

 

Process

 

  • Solicit nominations from teachers, organizations and students
  • Nominations are screened by the SVL Board with input from the directors or organizers of the various  projects. Additional information is often secured at this point
  • Final selection by the SVL Board
  • Certificates awarded on National and Global Youth Service Day 2007
