Branford Animal Shelter/Control
749 East Main Street Branford, CT 06405
Our Services: The Town of Branford Animal Shelter is dedicated to servicing the public as it relates to animal issues as well as finding qualified homes for adoptable homeless companion animals that are temporary residents of our shelter.
We are dedicated to fostering a responsible and humane two and four-footed community. We provide for and protect abandoned, abused, neglected, and unwanted animals. We promote animal welfare through programs and services that mutually benefit animals and people.
Adoption fees are $95 for CT residents. This fee includes vaccinations against rabies (if animal is older than 12 weeks), distemper for dogs. This fee also includes a certificate for spaying/ neutering at participating vets. Additional donations are appreciated !
We are located on Route 1 near the Guilford line next to the town transfer station.
Volunteer Opportunity: This can be a student community service project
Help us help the Pet Food Pantry, this project helps distribute pet food to help people who might not be able to feed their four legged family members.
Donated food brought to the shelter in excess of our operating needs is brought
to the Pantry (located at the Branford Clothing Bank on Harrison Ave.) for distribution. Small packages of dry dog and cat food or cans of dog or cat food are preferred along with dog and cat treats and toys.
We want to offer to Clothing Bank/Pantry users/recipients the opportunity to pick up larger portions of dry dog food here at the shelter. They just need to call us in advance to set that up with us. We are asking the public for donations of sturdy plastic grocery bags to put the dry dog food in as well.
